It will probably take a few weeks for them to email people for professional article distubution, so at this time I am just waiting. At the month’s end I will post my Adsense earnings for this site (even though I don’t anticipate an increase yet). In the mean time, I’m not doing anything else with the site because I don’t want to mix any other factors in.

As a past member of PLRPro, I still get the current newsletters, and was happy when I received the latest one announcing that they had just launched PLRPro 3.0 with high quality content and an introductory membership price of only $29 a month. They stated “PLRPro.com has gone back to it’s grass roots, back to being a pure content provider, and a damn good one at that.”

It sounded perfect! There was a time when I was spending around $300 a month to PLR membership sites in the hopes of getting some quality content, however most failed to deliver any quality.

So I was eager to see if PLRPro was going to make good on their promise. When I first subscribed and logged in, I was happy to see that for each month they are offering ten articles in 25 different niches – so many articles!

However, I was a little disappointed when I opened the first set and immediately saw that there were no spaces between the periods of the sentences and the first letters of the following sentences. So I thought, OK, this will be annoying to fix but let’s see about the actual content. So I read through articles in about five different niches and was sad to find that not only did they sound like they were written by non-English speakers, with grammatical errors and sentences that just didn’t make sense, but there was little in the way of useful content. There were lots of sentences that painted broad brushstrokes and were absolutely useless, sentences similar to “many people like xxx” or “xxx is becoming popular around the world…” you know the type.

Since I started making content sites in 2002, one of the most important things I’ve learned is that quality doe matter. If Google sees that visitors only spent a few seconds on your site before hitting the back button, your ranking is going to drop. And besides, I like making sites that I can be proud of.

There is a bit of information in these articles, so at this point I’m debating whether or not I’m going to re-write some of them, or just let that $30 go.

So if you’re looking for a lot of content for a low price, regardless of the quality, this is the site for you. If you’re looking for content that you can work with and re-write, this may be the site for you. Otherwise, I would write the content yourself or hire out some good writers.

On December 1st, 2009, the FTC will be enforcing their new internet policy regarding endorsments and testimonials. Essentially, the document states that website publishers must disclose affiliations and payments in a clear manner when reviewing or endorsing products. The document is still sketchy to many publishers (including me) and I would suggest reading it for yourself to get a better understanding of it.

Since this document has not been updated since 1980, it’s sure to send publishers into a tailspin over how to deal with on their websites to avoid fines and possibly even jail time!

I, for one, am not so big into product endorsements, but rather post informational content (i.e. recipes, home & garden tips, candle-making tips) as well as provide WordPress themes for users on various sites. However, I’m still shaking in my boots over just how careful I need to be about the links on my sites, and have just created an external links policy plugin for WordPress to add to my sites because so many people leave comments with links to other sites.

Grab it here for free for your own site if you like:

“Top Linking Secrets” – a truly honest review!

Neil Shearing’s “Top Linking Secrets” offers tips and information in three different areas: general information about links, link sources, and finally, link building.

Unless you’re an absolute beginner, the link info section probably won’t have anything revealing to offer, so you’ll likely want to skip right over that and get on to the second section.

I don’t think that the second section was meant to be more valuable than the third, but that’s the place that I got a new, fresh idea (fresh to me anyway) to do with my sites. Here Shearing gives a variety of ways to get inbound links, and at least one of the ways struck me as being pretty creative and useful – and I can’t wait to get started on it!

The third section which is the link building action list, does give detailed instructions on how to get natural inbound links to your site. I am actually already doing much of what he suggests in this section with some of my sites and the results from these steps are working OK in providing a few links, but I’ve had better results with other techniques. Also, while it gives a number of ways to get links, I personally don’t believe that it offers a high number of ways to get quality links, either.

Another thing that I didn’t like so much about this guide is that much of what he suggests involves joining somewhat expensive programs – programs that cost even most than Shearing’s asking price of $77 for the guide.

I know that many times it takes money to make money, but if you’re expecting to be shelling out only the asking price for the guide to go through his steps, then think again.

Speaking of the price, Shearing has offered some different coupon codes for the ebook, the current coupon code is “10less” for an obvious $10 savings.

Considering everything, including the price and that I did get a new idea from this ebook, I rate this product 3.8/10.

In 2002 I created my first site, onetimesone.com, out of a love for music. The site featured offered music reviews of mostly independent bands and it was a great way for me to stay in touch with the music community and to hear the latest independent music. I wrote all of the content and focused on promoting the site as best as I could. I didn’t know a thing about SEO or marketing, but the site grew to having around 50,000 visitors in one year. This was enormous to me. On top of that, I had many of my favorite labels sending me new music to review and I had people that wanted to write for the site in exchange for new music. It worked out great and that’s how it works to this day for that site! Only now I have some major interviews on the site and get over 100,000 visitors a month and growing.

I never wanted that to be a money-making site because I always thought of it as too special, so I’ve kept the advertising to a minimum. And honestly, the advertising I have on there does not convert well (as is the case with most entertainment sites). Since I created this site and delved into the world of internet publishing, though, I realized that there were some great business opportunities available online. So while I kept enjoying my hobby site when I had the time, I spent more of my time venturing into the business side of internet publishing.

The next site I did was a paid survey site. I had been taking surveys for money and realized that this could be a pretty cool thing to promote, since I did have some experience with it. I became an affiliate of a few survey sites and made a survey page on a subdomain of my music site where I added my affiliate links and a little blurb. I bought some advertising throuh our local TV station and through some paid-to-read-email sites and actually started making about $100 a month – I couldn’t believe it! I was making money online on my own!

Eventually I took the survey section off of the music site because, even though it was its own subdomain of the site, I didn’t think it belonged there. But now that I was aware that it was possible to make money online, I still wanted to be able to have a profitable online business and was on the lookout for a real opportunity.

One day I stumbled across James Martell’s Affiliate Handbook. Since I didn’t have a clue about SEO or online marketing, everything in this book was a revelation to me, and it completely changed the way I thought about making sites! There’s a lot to be learned beyond this book, but it was perfect for a beginner like me!

So I created several niche content sites and began getting up at 4:00 in the morning to write articles before my daughter woke up! And fortunately for me, my hard work began to pay off and it was only a year later that I was making $1000 a month from the sites.

Since then I’ve learned a lot of things, and while I still only work part time (about 1 hour a day) on websites, I now make about $4000 to $5000 a month.

I’m at a point where I have a lot to offer from my experiences, and where I also have a lot to learn, so I thought this would be the perfect time to start blogging all about internet publishing and everything that entails.
